Nokia announced the Lumia 800, their new flagship Windows Phone, and it looks pretty sweet. Unfortunately it's not coming to the US until "early next year", but I think I can wait that long.

Why Nokia? Well, they make nice phones, and I have a soft spot for formerly big mobile companies (my first phone was a Nokia!) who have fallen a long way but are now starting over with a new mobile OS. (or: Nokia's Palm moment has arrived)

They're even more doomed.

Aw, I don't think they can be more doomed than webOS :-) And even if Nokia fails, Microsoft seems pretty committed to WP7, so there will be other devices.

I really wish Nokia went forward with Meego. I love their hardware, and WP7 actually looks interesting, but I don't want a walled garden. I'm really having trouble figuring out what kind of phone I want to get, and I'm way overdue for an upgrade. I have an E71 that I still love, but it's getting really long in the tooth. *sigh*
