I just answered a phone call that started "This is the second..." to which I immediately hung up, enraged, because I have literally gotten at least 50 calls for the past...3 months? 6 months? telling me that my automobile warranty has expired. What is wrong with you people?? STOP CALLING ME.

What's fun is when you're expecting a call from an unknown number to followup with you on some business.. then you can't see the 800 number and decide to ignore it, and you get doubly angry about the second notice crap. Not that this happened to me 10 minutes ago or anything.

Hey, I get a "final notice regarding my existing credit card account" at least 4 times a week. *sigh*

I'm getting both calls about the "warranty has expired" (both of our cars are less than 3 years old!) and "this is your second/final notice about your account". At least one of them 3-4 times a week. Idiots. Unfortunately, we don't have caller ID, so I can't try to avoid them :P

I even listened to one of them all the way through and it just told me to press a number, no indication of who it was or what account it might be. Total scam.

And it really pisses me off that they don't even let you tell them to take your number off their list, which they are required by law to do and abide by. *fume*

Ditto. Except we're not getting the expired warranty calls. Just the notices about our current account, with no specification of which account it might be and the "press a number" thing if I listen to the whole message. I have to admit to being somewhat tempted to "press a number' so I might actually get to a real person to tell them to f*ck off. But yeah, the fact that they don't give any affiliation for me to complain about to the government wrt do not call lists and the like really pisses me off.

which, of course, means that they're not legit or they wouldn't be breaking the law like this *snarl*

I think this is a type of spam, if everyone is getting it. Many people I know have been having the same experience as you (including me). At first I thought it was legit, because I bought my car two years ago, but now I know better.

I get them on my cell phone which pisses me off because it's illegal & eats my minutes. Grr. (I have learned to be hard hearted about not answer it unless I know the number or it's at least an area code that I expect someone strange to be calling me from.)

Yeah, Greg's is on his cell as well. Oddly, I very very rarely get spam on my phone.

They have my work phone number too somehow!

I wish they had a sneakemail for phone numbers, but of course phone numbers are typically openly available.

Yeah, my warranty on my 1995 Geo has been "about to expire" for a long time. I hit the button to talk to a sales person and just yelled at him that no, my car was old as hell, not under warranty, not going to be under warranty, and he'd better take me off the list.
