All right, I'm making a quiz. Here is a list of the "best shows on television" according to various people. Bold the ones you've watched multiple seasons one and italicize the ones you've seen at least a few episodes of.

The Wire - everyone says this is awesome, need to watch at some point.
Lost - ohh yeah
Friday Night Lights - intriguing but haven't gotten around to it, may watch someday.
Deadwood - same
30 Rock - good stuff
The Daily Show - of course
Battlestar Galactica - of course
The Sopranos
Arrested Development - absolutely
Studio 60 - watched the first few episodes, didn't get into it.
South Park - pretty hit or miss, but the hits are good
Veronica Mars
Six Feet Under
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys - wait, really?
The Colbert Report - I'm on notice!
Mad Men - heard good things about it.
The West Wing

Simple anwser...

None of the above.

I haven't really watched anything on TV with any consistancy since Farscape.

You've seen random episodes of the Daily Show and Colbert Report. :P

Veronica Mars was excellent....but it's been cancelled for at least two years now. Don't think it qualifies as being "on television" unless you're also going to go back and count all the other excellent series that are no longer airing.

As for the rest of the list, I've seen about two seasons plus a few random episodes of Lost (enjoyed it; will probably watch it all on DVD eventually) and a few random episodes of the Daily Show and Colbert Report. And all of Veronica Mars.

Yeah, I haven't watched much TV since Corwin was born (though I finished out the series of Gilmore Girls when he was really little and I pretty much just had to hold him in my lap all day). Was hoping to get back into watching Bones now that I'm not having to nurse Corwin before bed every night which would fall right in the middle of the 7:00 hour. But it's on Wednesdays, which is the one night of the week when we have dinner with friends, and while I could watch it at their house (I actually started watching it with Nancy a few years back), Wednesday is the one night that I HAVE to put Corwin to bed since Andrew is in the midst of playing Magic with the guys. The fates are conspiring against me.

We really should get a DVR. Except I'm not sure it would get enough use to be worth it.

I think this is shows that were on the air at some point in the last two years, or something like that. (The Wire and Arrested Development are both over as well)

We would never watch TV if it wasn't for the TiVo. Now, I don't know if that's an argument for or against it.

By the way, two write-ins:

House - It can be very predictable, but it gets good marks for Hugh Laurie's acting and for the depth of medical understanding. It's not perfect, but very good compared to other medical shows.

Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The pilot was kind of lame and stale, but the rest of season 1 was decent. Season 2 premiered last night, but I missed it.

My television habits tend to be deep rather than broad. I don't watch many shows, but I really get into the few that I do watch. For the bolded ones I've seen every episode at least once and I've seen many episodes twice.

The Wire - never heard of it
(italics) Lost - I saw a few, but got bored when there started to be creepy monsters in the trees on the island
Friday Night Lights - it's still on?
Deadwood
30 Rock - never heard of it
The Daily Show - seen come clips (that you or others have posted) but not interested for the most part
(bold) Battlestar Galactica - duh, though it's so darmatic and tense that Britton hasn't let us get through the entire 2nd season yet.
The Sopranos
Arrested Development
Studio 60 - never heard of it
(italics) South Park - most of it is terrible, but some is quite good
Veronica Mars - seen part of one episode while in the hospital, which is where I've seen most of my TV the past couple years. The other place is my parent's house on weekends. scary
Six Feet Under - sounds pleasant
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys - ick!
The Colbert Report
Mad Men - never heard of it
The West Wing - saw parts of a couple episodes, but as you can tell from my previous comments, politically-geared stuff is completely uninteresting to me

so, yeah, not only do I not know how to do font stuff in comments, I haven't heard of half these shows, and have seen any part of less than half the rest. oh well.

I haven't seen any at all. :) Comes of never having cable, I guess. The last time I watched TV with any regularity was high school.

The Wire - If The Shield is borderline too intense for me, I think The Wire's probably out.
Lost - but only because of you and Carrie. don't watch it on my own.
Friday Night Lights - seen an episode here and there, suppose to be really good.
Deadwood - maybe sometime soon. I think it'll be upsetting.
30 Rock - should probably buy the first two seasons at some point...waiting for a super good deal.
The Daily Show
Battlestar Galactica - 1, 2 and 2.5. will probably catch up/finish eventualy.
The Sopranos - saw a few seasons on DVD, but never got into it, always confused about who people are. I can't remember where I left off, and I feel like I'd probably have to start over anyhow, which doesn't seem worth it.
Arrested Development
Studio 60 - Watched it all, but it's like Aaron Sorkin took a step backwards. Sports Night: good when funny, mostly bad at melodrama, and took itself way too seriously. West Wing: good when funny, much better at melodrama, and had a serious enough subject to take itself as seriously as it does. This one: pretty good when funny, TERRIBLE at melodrama, and back to the subject that doesn't deserve to be taken that seriously. The fate of the free world just doesn't depend on a sketch comedy show.
South Park - Mostly when I'm up past 11:00.
Veronica Mars - Watched the first couple episodes, but haven't felt a real need to watch more.
Six Feet Under - Watched the first season, maybe will finish at some point.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys - no, but read the story on it.
The Colbert Report - Thank you Hulu!
Mad Men - On my netflix queue, with a long wait.
The West Wing - of course.

I should have mentioned that I owe y'all for a lot of these! Lost was Carrie, but at least 30 Rock and Arrested Development were you and Mom. :-)

Also, I totally agree re Studio 60...after West Wing it was very "why is this so important again?"

Arrested Development was Carrie. :)

The Wire-Just started last week. Have heard great things about. After 3 episodes I'm intrigued but not sold on yet.

Lost-Reluctant at first, now dedicated viewer. Partly because even though it has gotten ridiculous, I have to know how it ends.

Friday Night Lights-Saw the movie, not seen the show.

Deadwood-This is a really good show. Warning very coarse language, violence, and nudity. But compelling characters make this a great show.

30 Rock-Love it.

The Daily Show-I love Stewart sooooo much.

Battlestar Galactica-Started strong, waned a bit, getting better for the end? Hopefully?

The Sopranos- Watched first season when it came out, and it just lost me. Maybe would try again.

Arrested Development-So funny. Love it.

Studio 60-Like Sorkins other works, saw the pilot, and been meaning to catch the rest on Hulu. Not terribly strong imo so far.

South Park-Funny hit or miss. Still can satire with the best.

Veronica Mars-Never heard of this.

Six Feet Under-Starts strong gets worse and worse. Season 3 was a bit of a chore for me to watch, but stuck with it through since I had heard season 4 was better and season 5 was awesome. Great final season made up for season 3 mediocrity.

Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys-Old roomate watched this the first year. Kinda funny sometimes. Boring mostly.

The Colbert Report-Funny. Not as good as The Daily Show imo though.

Mad Men-Have heard GREAT things about this. Will see how it stacks up when it hits netflix queue.

The West Wing-Watched the first 4-5 seasons. Love the show. Just never finished it. Bartlett is my President!
