My right eye has been doing this weird twitching for the past 5 days or so. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't hurt, but sometimes it'll just start twitching like the eyelid is stuck open or caught on something. And the eye does feel a little dry. Anyone have any clue whether this is serious or not? It's a little irritating, but I can live with it if it's not the sign of some larger problem (eye falling out, for example - that would be bad).

Work meeting #1 today, big work meeting #2 tomorrow.

I think it's a stress thing. Not a big deal, as long as it doesn't drive you crazy. If it gets bad enough, they can botox it to reduce the muscles ability to react.

I get that too sometimes. I haven't been able to find a pattern, although stress may well be it. It is annoying. Don't worry though, my eye is still intact! :)

Muscle twitches in eyelids aren't uncommon and can be brought on by stress. I wouldn't worry bout it too much. Dryness in the eye can irritate it though, so maybe you should use some eyedrops or blink more often. :)

Now if this was a House episode, I'm sure this would be a harbinger of a deeper malady.

I had this happen to me for a few weeks and it wouldn't go away to the point where I gave up caffeine. And ta da..it went away. I have no idea if giving it up made it stop, if it was a placebo effect, or if it just stopped on its own.

I am happily back on caffeine though and no twitching...I seem to have passed it to Wong..who in turn must have passed it to you.

Maybe you should change your name now to fartingWario.

My eye doctor says it can be all sorts of things -- including stress and caffeine, like mentioned. But if it doesn't go away within a week or so (and stress/caffeine aren't excessive) then it can mean that your glasses prescription isn't quite right.

Personally I find that if I think about it, it continues, but eventually it goes away, and at some point I realize it hasn't happened in a week or so, but if I keep thinking about it, my eyes do it...

It could also be an allergies - I used to get that a bit in Houston when pine pollen was heavy. I would take an antihistamine and the problem would go away.

I echo bobacita. I hate it, can't seem to find a pattern (allergies are making my eyes dry out and water like crazy, these days I'm drinking 2x-3x the amount of caffeine I normally drink, but no twitchy-twitchy) but it hasn't ever appeared to be serious, and it goes away within a few days.

It's a vitamin deficiency though I can't remember which one. Try taking some all in one vitamins and seeing if that helps :)
